See the many faces of Prince George as he watches England lose to Italy in Euro 2020 final

George attended the soccer final with his mom and dad, Prince William and Kate.

England's future king, Prince George, got a firsthand glimpse at the thrill of brief victory and the agony of ultimate defeat while watching his home country England lose to Italy Sunday in the Euro 2020 final.

George, who turns 8 later this month, watched the highly anticipated showdown at London's Wembley Stadium alongside his parents, Prince William and Kate, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. pg

George got to attend the match solo without his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte, 6, and Prince Louis, 2.

The young prince, who is third in line to the British throne, experienced the highest of highs as England seemed on the cusp of victory and then the lowest of lows as the team lost to Italy 2-3 in a penalty kick shootout.

George did not hold back his emotions during the game, which did not go unnoticed on social media or by photographers.

At different points during the game, George, who attends Thomas's Battersea, a private school in south London, was seen hugging his mom and dad after good plays by England and watching nervously during the shootout.

After the game, Prince William, president of the Football Association, congratulated Italy on their win and applauded England for making it to the final.

"Heartbreaking. Congratulations @/Azzurri on a great victory," he wrote. "@/England, you’ve all come so far, but sadly this time it wasn’t our day. You can all hold your heads high, and be so proud of yourselves — I know there’s more to come."

Prince William, Kate and George also rooted on England in a game last month, watching as the team defeated Germany and advanced to the quarterfinals.
